A delegation from The Gambia’s transport sector visited AC Mobility in Kigali on 31 August 2026, as part of a study visit organised by Rwanda Cooperation, to learn about Rwanda’s public transport technology and operations.
Led by the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, the delegation received demonstrations of bus validators and Point-of-Sale ticketing devices, showing how the systems support day-to-day public transport operations in Kigali and upcountry routes.
Safiya Ibn Garba, Chief of Staff at AC Mobility, welcomed the delegation and outlined the company’s commitment to an informative and resourceful session. Designated teams guided the visit, addressing questions on the systems, processes, and technology behind Rwanda’s transit operations.
The delegation brought together senior representatives from nine institutions: the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, the Gambia Standards Bureau, the General Transport Union, the Gambia Transport Service Company, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, and the Gambia Police Force.
Delegates included Ebrima Colley, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure; Papa Secka, Director General of the Gambia Standards Bureau; Omar Ceesay, President of the General Transport Union; and Sainabou Houma, Director of Transport at the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure.
Also present were Seedy Kanyi, General Manager of the Gambia Transport Service Company; Saikou Kujabi, Principal Transport Regulatory Officer at the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure; Momodou Senghore, Operations Manager at the Central Project Coordination Unit under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs; Awa Bittaye, Principal Financial Analyst at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs; and Ansumana Sanyang, Commissioner of Licensing at the Gambia Police Force.
The visit forms part of a broader programme of knowledge exchange between Rwanda and The Gambia on technology-enabled approaches to public transport management. AC Mobility continues to engage with institutions and stakeholders seeking to learn from Rwanda’s experience in building efficient, accessible public transport systems.
